Last year, Mayor Ballard challenged Hoosiers to bundle up and join him on a bike ride in the dead of winter. His call was answered by 600-700 riders on what turned out to be the snowiest day of the year. The ride was a blast and afterwards the City Market served as a great host to a ski lodge-like gathering. People were already asking about a repeat before the first ride has completed. The time has come to give the people what they asked for.
This year on Saturday, January 5th 2013 Mayor Ballard will once again be leading riders around the City’s Southside, Fountain Square, and through Garfield Park before returning back to the City Market. Once again we have many great community partners (including Sunk King) that are helping to make the ride a fun, successful and annual event.
Indianapolis is making great strides to become a more bicycle-friendly community and these group rides provide opportunities for people to get out and enjoy the streets in a unique setting. We also want to make the event more than just a ride (even though that would be plenty), so folks are encouraged to come early to enjoy all that the City Market has to offer. Make sure to visit the Winter Farmers Market, the many vendors in the main hall and then stay afterwards to enjoy a complimentary tasty cup-o-Sun King upstairs at theTomlinson Taproom.
When: Saturday, January 5th, registration starts at 9am, ride leaves at 10am
Where: Indy Bike Hub at the City Market (http://indybikehub.org/)
