American Futbol: The Service Center Throws A World Party

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

All eyes will be on American football this weekend but the Service Center, Big Car’s multi-purpose space on the fringes of Lafayette Square Mall, is throwing a party for the rest of the world.

The World Party is a three-day celebration of music, dancing, food and drink highlighting the cultures of Central and South America (Thurs., Feb. 2), Africa (Fri., Feb. 3), and Asia (Sat., Feb. 4). The parties are 21 and up and each start at 8 p.m. Cover is $8 but if you bring a receipt from any restaurant in the Lafayette Square area you’ll get in for $5.

Families and people of all ages can visit Service Center between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Feb. 1-4 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday. The facility serves as a welcome center for the Lafayette Square/International Marketplace neighborhood and features a Super Car painted to represent one of the teams in the NFL. A variety of free special events, games and activities will happen during the daytime hours.

Sun King is proud to support Big Car and the Service Center for Culture & Community.
